Overall, "Shopify Forms" is appreciated for its ease of use, seamless integration with Shopify, and the ability to be set up quickly. For many, it serves as a useful tool to enhance email list subscriptions without any additional cost. However, frequent complaints highlight limitations in customization, localization, and certain functional constraints that hinder its full potential.
Key Strengths
Easy to set up and user-friendly interface.
Seamless integration with Shopify and native apps like Shopify Flow, Shopify Emails, and Shopify Discounts.
Effective in growing email subscriber lists.
Free to use, making it an appealing alternative to costly third-party apps.
Simplicity and effectiveness for basic form needs.
Common Concerns
Lack of customization options for styling and localization.
Forms can display on all pages without the option to choose specific pages.
Response data is difficult to manage or analyze outside of Shopify due to format and lack of export features.
Popup and forms behavior issues, such as not honoring subscription status or appearing regardless of previous user interactions.
Bugs related to browser compatibility, especially with Safari and Firefox.
Final Thoughts
While "Shopify Forms" is a straightforward and effective tool for basic form creation and email collection, its current limitations in customization and functionality could hinder merchants with more complex needs. The app is particularly beneficial for small businesses looking for a simple, no-cost solution, but improvements in flexibility and functionality could make it a more comprehensive tool for wider merchant demographics.

Need to rename to "Shopify Email Sign-up". It is not a "Forms" app like the name implies and 99% of people would think. It is only an email sign-up.
If you mistakenly use it for standard Forms (like the name implies) such as customer communication, you will regret it when you later realize you are not notified and cannot access the responses. Seriously - this app has possibly caused merchants more harm than good.
