This app is a true hidden gem. It’s has the best implementation of "product bundles for inventory management" of any of the many apps I have tested.
When you sell items with the same SKU in multiples of more than one [ eg: 6 pack ], some sales channels do not communicate the multiple quantity sold. Instead they only send back sales information for the main SKU item, not the quantity of each of the individual SKU items that are sold inside that listing, leading to inventory discrepancies.
When you sell multiple SKU items [ red, blue, yellow ] together in one listing, sales channels do not send back sales info for each SKU item, only for the SKU of the Parent listing that contains them, leading to inventory discrepancies.
Using Bundles/Kits resolves these discrepancies, enabling accurate inventory management even when listing products with many variants.
There are several ways of implementing bundles, some apps use templates which can be time consuming to set up, some apps don’t get it at all and don’t implement bundles very well.
However, with this app it is super simple, connect your sales channels, which then triggers an import your products into Ricemill, choose products from your inventory to turn into bundles, add components from your inventory to the bundle, and set a quantity for each component in the bundle.
When the bundle sells, the quantity of each components SKU is adjusted in your inventory instead of the top-level SKU being adjusted. This keeps all inventory levels accurate across all SKU items, even when sold together with other SKU items.
You will still require an app that handles order management, listing creation and management etc, Ricemill doesn’t try to do everything, it just does inventory, but it does it really well without any complexity.
Finally, I want to mention the support too. I came across Ricemill 5 years ago on a different platform and had a really positive experience, their support was fast, friendly, personal and knowledgable.
All these years later I come across an app of theirs in the Shopify marketplace and decide to try it. I found it to be excellent as I have mentioned, but I ran into an issue that required me to contact support.
First thing in the morning they were in contact and quickly discovered the cause of my issue and then guided me to a resolution.
They had not changed at all, still super friendly and super helpful.
These guys and this app deserve more recognition, you should definitely try it out, you will be very pleased that you did.
