This app actually works when sending files to people and I can actually put it in my checkout page unlike the original shopify downloads app. Their support was pretty fast and helped me with what I needed. Definitely the best app for this right now.

I have just started using it and so far it works fast and efficiently. The price is reasonable and the online assistance is fast and you chat directly with the developer. Which is great, he is open to assisting if anything is needed.
