Overall, merchants find "Pirate Ship: CheapARR Shipping" to be a highly beneficial tool for streamlining and reducing shipping costs significantly. It is particularly praised for its affordability and the money-saving opportunities it offers compared to traditional carriers. Many users appreciate the user-friendly interface and the excellent customer service, although there are concerns about support quality over time. However, the app faces criticism for problems during scaling and certain limitations regarding international shipping.
"Pirate Ship: CheapARR Shipping" is highly regarded for its cost-effectiveness and ease of use, ideally suiting small to medium-sized businesses looking to optimize shipping processes and fees. While the app provides exceptional value through significant savings and friendly support, its ability to scale with larger businesses or offer comprehensive international solutions poses challenges. Still, the app remains a recommended tool for its core functionalities and cost advantages.
I have used Pirate Ship for many yaers to send packages worldwide. They are simple to use, have great rates and make my business so much easier. And I love their Simple Export Rate for international packages (under 4 pounds). Their customer service is quick to respond and I am happy to continue using them for my Shopify orders as well as other aspects of my business.
We moved all of our shipping services to Pirate Ship this year. The migration with Shopify was quick, easy and seamless. Tech support is responsive and follows through with your issue. Rates are unbeatable! Thrilled to work with this wonderful service!
Integrating PirateShip with Shopify was quick and painless, eliminating a ton of copy/pasting that would normally be necessary were my accounts not linked, and I know I'm getting competitive rates and an online GUI that's simple to use. The only missing piece of the puzzle however, would be a way for PirateShip to *push* shipping rates into the Shopify checkout path so customers can proactively choose how they want their items sent. Of course this would also need to include things like the ability to add a fixed or variable upcharge for shipping materials and resources, but that's less critical. In short -- if you use Shopify, get this!
Amazing App, Customer Service, and Savings. Pirate Ship has really helped our small business grow, but it does have its limitations. We will continue to use their service as long as we can.
Fantastic App! Reliable Integration, Best Rates, and Effortless Workflow. I’ve been using Pirate Ship long before switching to Shopify, and the ability to integrate the two was one of the main reasons we made the move. The setup process was incredibly straightforward, and syncing our orders took only a few clicks. Since integrating Pirate Ship with Shopify, the experience has been flawless. Orders always sync correctly, tracking information automatically pushes back into Shopify, and customers can receive shipping notifications through Pirate Ship while still being able to view their order status and tracking right from their Shopify account. That level of automation saves time, reduces errors, and helps maintain a smooth customer experience, which we are all looking for. Pirate Ship consistently offers some of the best shipping rates available, and the platform itself is intuitive, fast, and easy to use — from creating batches to printing labels and handling tracking, less off of my plate as a solopreneur. The only improvement I could imagine is being able to use Pirate Ship directly inside Shopify instead of needing to open the Pirate Ship site — but even with that step, the process is still quick and seamless. If you're looking for a reliable, affordable, and easy-to-use shipping solution for Shopify, Pirate Ship is absolutely worth it. I wouldn’t want to run fulfillment without it.
Hey there, just wanted to shout out! Pirate Ship has been our shipping company for years. They are always right there to answer questions, refunding is easy peasy and international is super easy as well. We integrated both shopify and etsy with no problems. Their rates are the best we have found over the years. I would say is you have any questions or fears go directly to Pirate Ship and chat with them about making the switch or integration.
I love Pirate Ship. It's really easy to use, and provides me substantial savings over purchasing shipping, especially for UPS international. It was super simple to get it connected to my Shopify account. It's also pirate themed, which I love.
I love PirateShip and their rates are amazing! I run a small business and ship maybe 1500 to 2500 packages a year. I use primarily UPS and USPS and their rates seem to be fantastic based on what I see. I usually open my Shopify store on one screen and PirateShip on the other. I select labels and print directly from PirateShip. It integrates/syncs with Shopify seamlessly. Delivery dates seem to fairly accurate. Their chat support is also excellent. No complaints here!
Great cheap shipping which integrates well. Seriously, you will be blown away at the rates they quote.
Love using PirateShip for my Shopify store. Integration has been seamless, and I've never had any trouble getting in touch with someone from customer service when I've had questions or had to make an insurance claim.
As longtime Shopify Plus customers who signed up for Pirate Ship via the app store, our shipping was halted without notice. Chat support then demanded a photo of me holding my ID to resolve the issue. Why wasn’t this requirement addressed when the account was created? I have no idea who’s requesting my ID over chat, and this lack of transparency feels unprofessional and concerning.
Pirate Ship offers significant savings on shipping compared to traditional carriers like USPS Retail or UPS. They leverage commercial pricing from USPS and UPS, allowing you to pass on those savings to your customers or boost your profit margins.
Pirate Ship is phenomenal. Simple, easy to use, and great customer service that has always made me smile when talking to them.
Terrible for scale. Never use if your'e an Amazon seller. They send automated messages even after we disabled it, their support is no help. It's risking getting our high volume business banned on amazon and has hurt our customer service. Their customer service actually used be good, now it's outsourced garbage.
If you use it wisely it can benefit you greatly but you must monitor what is happening always. They do have very good usps & ups rates. Holiday surges can be a bit much. Insurance (shipsurance) is in added choice but shipsurance company can be very difficult to deal with once we go above anything that is $200 in value. They have a very long list of regulations (all responsibility is solely on seller!) and pirateship have not guided us very well. You MUST make sure to know all the regulations if you would like to insure something of great value as shipsurance will try to find the smallest of reasons why not to pay (even if you did an amazing packaging job and it is evident UPS is at fault). I cannot repeat this enough! Another point to be on the lookout for is "label cost adjustment", especially with UPS, it took me a good while to understand that even post delivery UPS sends some package measurement & weight adjustments that are wrong and you will be automatically charged more. We have very specific box dimensions and ups keeps claiming the dimensions are different than those we carry and we have to dispute the "adjustments" on a regular. You can see that in your "reports" section. make sure to monitor it. Make sure you know what is needed also for small claims up to $100, they are good with those for lost mail, damaged mail, etc. Never had an issue with them and pirateship team has been helpful with that. All in all it is a fair service but not for anything that is above $200 and you must always monitor the label cost adjustments weekly. Hope this helps others. Update: so for a while I was thinking to change my review for the better since the rates were much better and $100 coverage of items was included in basic shipping and also UPS was added as an option, was really "smooth sailing" Arrrrrrhhh....no issues for a long while until a package was damaged, previously I filed claims and the ones under $100 coverage were easy to settle. Have not filed a claim in a very very long time. I submitted everything that is required and did it with the system not with the agents, the claim was not being processed (I already send a replacement to my customer because we take care of our customers promptly) so I contacted an agent who told me it is 1-2 weeks for processing a claim (meaning to get an initial response not approval). I now understood that shipsurance in not the only problem, it is pirateship too, and I will explain. The customers are require to hold on to all the packaging and damaged items because after a few weeks they come up with requests that should have been cared for upon happening, obviously it is an issue but those are the policies so you cannot argue about it, by delaying the process of the claim there are less chances for the claim to be approved and we end up disturbing our customers. Also, I work with other 3 party services that resolve any issues within no time. So the agent was rude, and when I told him that in the past it was not like this with pirate ship and that I cannot work with 1-2 weeks for processing a simple claim and that other companies offer better services so I will have to choose them for these complication he replied that he was "happy to help" and sent a smiley emoji. I was shipping mostly with pirateship but since the support for customers is an issue when an actual problem occurs I will have to stop, too bad, I really liked using their services, but occasionally there are issues and support is needed. We too offer it to our customers but with pleasure.
I have been using Pirateship for3 years now and it has saved me a lot of money. I have tried other shipping alternatives and i always came back to Pirateship. I am glad they added UPS shipping.
Easy to use and saves $$ over what buying our USPS shipping labels from Shopify would cost, especially since Pirate Ship recently began offering even further discounted USPS rates. You can also set it up to send the same Shopify tracking email sequence as if you shipped using Shopify. Highly Recommended!
I love Pirate Ship! However, I'm concerned with the "unsupported app" flag I'm seeing on the app via Shopify. Will the integration option be ending soon? I hope not! The rates are amazing and I'd hate to have to find another company.
Pirateship.com saves me $$$ every month with prices lower than my volume discounts. It has never gone offline in over three years. I am 70 Y. O. And it is simple and trouble free. I would recommend to everyone EXCEPT MY COMPETITIOn. that
I do wish they'd add UPS rates. For those claiming it's the same as retail rates, they're not using cubic sized boxes. Normal USPS and UPS rates are Weight+Distance. Cubic USPS is Size+Distance. The smaller box you ship, the cheaper it is. For me to ship 1 LB or 20 LBs from FL to CA in a Tier 1 box is $9.52. 1 LB to 20 LBs in a Box 4 is $10.31. Yes, higher plans of Shopify now offer cubic rates, but sadly those rates aren't passed onto customers. USPS 1096L = Tier 1 Cubic. USPS 1/2 Shoebox (cut in half) = Tier 1 Cubic. USPS Box 4 = Tier 2 USPS 1097 & 1092 = Tier 3 USPS 1095 & USPS Shoe Box = Tier 4 2 USPS Box 4 Taped Together = Tier 4 12x12x4 Box = Tier 4 12x12x6 Box = Tier 5 13x13x5 Box = Tier 5 Use these sized boxes (or there abouts), enter dimensions, and SAVE money. Bottom Line - pack your items into the smallest boxes you can find, and use Pirate Ship. Funny story, I only discovered today there is a Tier 5 - even tho Pirate Ship clearly indicates there is one. lol It's just the USPS doesn't have their own Tier 5 box. I had to fill a 12x12x6 box, ran it through Pirate Ship, and it came up Cubic. I looked at the chart - duh, yeah, there is a Tier 5. Anyway, Tier 5 Cubic for me was $13.96; UPS would have been $14+; Regional Box B was $16+; regular Priority was close $24+. So, for this single order, saved $1+ today using Pirate Ship USPS Cubic rates vice UPS Ground, and the customer will get it a few days earlier. FYI, a USPS Box 7 is TOO big Cubic, but can be cut down from it's original 12x12x8 to make into 12x12x6 - which WOULD be .5 Cubic :) Grab a power box cutter off Amazon and start saving money! :) I am also using Bespoke Shopify App tailored and configured for me to pull in Cubic Rates to display to my customers. I'm passing the savings on to them. Min from Bespoke has AWESOME customer service! I would agree, having to transfer some date, go through multiple screens, etc, can be rather convoluted. --Original Review This app is a game changer, really! I thought USPS Priority Regional Rates were cheap - wow on the USPS Priority Cubic Rates - JUST WOW! I should have installed this app from Day 1 - seriously. Where this app will save you money is using USPS *CUBIC* Priority vs. "regular" USPS Priority. We sell small pint size jars of paint. They're small, and heavy. But, I can fit 3 into a USPS Priority Box 4, that weigh 4 lbs, 12 oz, and ship from Florida to Washington State for $8.92 via USPS Priority Cubic. The same shipment would be $11.20 in the smallest USPS Regional Rate Priority Box, $12.80 in USPS Medium Flat Rate Box (FYI, 3 pints of paint won't fit into a Medium Flat Rate Box) or $20.40 regular USPS Priority! $20.40 for REGULAR PRIORITY! That's an $11 savings. For example - just jammed (actually fits in nicely) 4+ LBS of products into a 1092 bound from Pensacola FL to Arizona. USPS Priority was $17+. UPS was $18+. USPS Cubic Priority was $10.78! That saved us $7 for just that one shipment, and it will get there same time as regular USPS Priority. As I said above, where this app will save you money is using USPS *CUBIC* Priority vs. "regular" USPS Priority. We set up all regular USPS Priority Boxes that are allowed to be used with Cubic shipping in the app. Now, we just use a "saved box", select modify when generating a label so we can accurately weigh it. Not that it matters to me or cost what weight is, as cubic shipping is based on size, not weight (although there is a max weight limit, but good luck trying to hit that in the smaller USPS boxes). Just try it out - it's FREE!! Is there ANY way to have my customers view all the rates available? Shopify is SOOOOOO frustrating!! The ONLY reason I would possible give it 4 stars is because I want to pass the savings onto my customers. I do not wish to make one single penny off of shipping. If we can show and offer these rates to our customers, that would be amazing. Everyone would win. No need for the Post Office to get any more money than they need! You need to team up with Bespoke Shipping! They're smart and together you two could dominate shipping. Seriously.
