When you first set up it seems ok, wait until you add new products to your range though?! As Google confirmed to me in writing "this app is full of bugs, we sorry for issues caused". The issue is that the app automatically creates new product sales channels (and products) for random countries AND worst of all completely messes up the existing product feed. We 'lost' products which were running for 18 months and had to 'start again' meaning every asset group within our PMAX ad portfoplio needed to be duplicated and done again to point the new product to it. Hours of work.

Impossible to get any advice from Google support. They don't answer but only copy and paste their scripts. The nicest answer was that it was too complicated to help solving the problems in the Merchant Centre. Could not tell me WHAT misrepresentation caused the suspension due to privacy rules (???????)

In the Google & YouTube plugin, some previously generated and uploaded primary data sources in GMC (Google Merchant Center)—for example, the one with the country set to Australia, named “Shopify App API,” and with the Feed label “AUD_13723795709”—have recently shown a product count of zero (estimated to have occurred between August 22 and August 25, 2025). Meanwhile, the system has automatically generated and uploaded new similar primary data sources to GMC. Notably, the product count in the new data sources is exactly the same as the count in the original sources before they were reset to zero, and all historical product data has been preserved. This indicates that the products were in fact automatically migrated from the old data sources to the newly generated ones. Only some of the main data sources have this problem, while others do not. The main difference between the data sources lies in the target countries. The question is: Why does the plugin automatically generate new primary data sources?

So far, not great on the 'experimental' facets.... i.e. can't select multiple images and the generation tool doesn't do it's job. Even as a beta, this is poor.

I've been getting error messages saying that my products are depreciated on Google Shop as they are missing certain values. Apparently this app does not fully sync with the metafields already built into Shopify. The only way I could find to do this was to manually input the metafields for each variant; and I have over 2000 products in my store. When I contacted their support, they never directly answered my questions and instead offered solutions to problems I didn't bring up. This app seems more geared towards businesses with less than 100 products in their store and their customer support is awful.

We are using the Google & YouTube app for Shopify on our store: https://dolfinos.com/. We noticed that even after updating the app a few weeks ago, the data sent to Google Ads via the Google Tag still contains outdated parameters: • ecomm_pagetype • ecomm_prodid • ecomm_totalvalue From what I understand, these parameters are part of the old tracking format and should have been replaced by the newer event structure after the update. However, they are still being sent, which may affect our tracking and remarketing performance.

Just give me GTM. This newer app sucks. I only need to add a GA tracking ID without logging into a Google account. This used to be easy but not anymore. Thanks for overcomplicating this.

My main gripe with this app is the lack of server-side tracking, it's 2025 people! This limitation isn’t clearly communicated, and many users likely aren’t aware of it. For an app of this size and importance, the decision to exclude server-side tracking feels like a significant design oversight. While I’ll have to create a custom solution for my own events anyway, it’s disappointing to see Google take such a limited approach on this front. Cheers, Aldert

I've been having the same problems as the previous Shopify merchants. My account is suspended for misrepresentation. However, I fix the so-called errors and the account is still suspended. The assistance is sub-par, only offering automated responses. I will be deleting this app as it is frustrating to use and non productive.

google MC can be a real headache. Time consuming, you just have to have some serious patience. You cant delete anything from it, frustrating and some fixes need you to have contact with outsourcing workers from some countries that has worries of scams.

This app has caused my google merchant centre to throw misrepresentation errors twice now, AFTER it was initially all working perfectly prior to installation. My products were approved, Identity was verified, etc, and after connecting the app, ALL of my products were rejected, misrepresentation policy violations (that I rectified and they never reflected in the reviews) Google's assistance and support were NON EXISTENT. I asked for help more than once and never had any actual help, just the same email telling me the same misrepresentation violations that I already rectified.

The app does a great job of tracking however on further investigation the product ID uses an incorrect prefix if you're only using it for GA4. It sends a prefix of "shopify_US_" for all stores. So for me with a UK store the prefix of our product ID's is "shopify_GB_" and there is no way to change this in the Google and YouTube app?
