worked well on desktop, and showed up on mobile in the theme editor, but customer-facing on mobile my half-created store was live. With no quick to respond support I ended up just using the password protection built in to shopify

very practical app if you wish to close your store temporarily for some maintenance measures. I was able to set this up with minimal effort and time. I did not venture into designing the message to my site theme, but I guess it would have been possible with some guidance.
