Merchants using ShipStation provide a mixed bag of feedback. Many praise its integration capabilities, ease of use, and time-saving features that simplify the shipping process. Some users highlight its effectiveness in managing orders from multiple marketplaces. However, numerous reviews report significant issues related to customer support and rising costs, which have caused dissatisfaction among users.
While ShipStation is highly valued by many for its comprehensive shipping solutions and integration capabilities, it faces criticism for its support services and pricing. It remains a popular choice, but merchants seeking more reliable customer service and support may need to explore other options.
BigCommerce and Shipstation Integration - I am incredibly dissatisfied with ShipStation and their lack of communication and sense of urgency with the issue of BigCommerce sales and customer information integrating into ShipStation. It has been over a month that I've been waiting and have only received generic emails, no details and no timeline of when they think the issue will be resolved. I am cancelling my service today.
Okay for now. - The new updates tend to be fickle. I suggest you always keep the older versions as long as you can.
Took 3 months but they fixed the problem - I just wished they stopped doing layout updates every few months. Too many bugs!
Very Good at What It Does - BC forced me out of BC Shipping, which I loved. I had to replace one app that worked great with two apps. ShipStation works really well for printing labels, but unfortunately it doesn't quote real-time rates on my store. I had to use EasyShip to quote real-time rates, and that app turned out to be a dumpster fire for me, but this review is about ShipStation which I am overall very happy with.ShipStation does a good job of bringing in data from your store and printing accurate labels. There is a problem with invalid tokens while using the program within BigCommerce and with Google Chrome. The work-around is to access ShipStation through its own website using MS Edge. I never have the invalid token issue when using Edge, so I think the invalid token problem has more to do with Chrome than with ShipStation.Once you're logged in, you have to upload recent orders and then refresh your screen. 2 or 3 mouse clicks. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if it automatically uploaded and refreshed when you logged into the site. After that, everything is easy. They have nice screen layouts and pretty simple methods for printing labels. I use sheet paper labels, not stickers, so my packing slip prints on the other half of my label. Kind of a nice touch that uses otherwise wasted paper.I have only used this for domestic orders, so I can't comment upon international orders. If only they provided real-time quotes for my BC store, this would be a 5 star program.
Ship Station Pros and Cons - Overall I like shipstation. As with anything it is a matter of learning the system. User friendly I rate it a 9 out of 10. The only reason is the USPS Global Advantage Program which you do not know you are being enrolled in. This service is for international orders only. The process - you make up the label with the international address. When the label prints out it ships your package to a processing facility in Carol Stream Ill. I questioned this and they told me it was a processing facility which will prepare the shipment for international delivery. From there they relabel it and send it on it's way.... maybe! First package to Canada has travelled all over the Canadian Provinces and still has not reached the customer after almost 40 days. Reason - Canada Post told the customer the label was damaged during shipment. Solution - send customer a replacement only this time opting out of the Global Advantage Program provided by Shipstation and Stamps .com. Now that I have opted out, when I make up the label all I have to do is add the customs declaration. And it is actually a few dollars cheaper to fill it out myself. The other two international shipments have been sitting in the RR Donelly shipping facility in Itasca, Illinois for better than two weeks. Never mind trying to contact that facility. Nearly impossible. So for me the take away is contact Shipstation and Stamps.com and opt out of the Global Advantage Program. When International labels are generated all you have to do is fill in the customs declaration. I like the program for all the other features and plan on staying with Shipstation. It is a good back end program. I would have liked Shipstation better if they had inform me of the third party shipping solution. Then if I had chosen it and the fail had come as it did I could in good conscience discount only the third party shipper. In this case RR Donelly. You may have a different experience but I was told from Shipstation product support that my complaint was not uncommon. What good is it to have a (claimed)more economical shipping solution at the cost of your reputation and loss of business. Hope this helps
Won't Connect - Orders won't import from Big Commerce into Shipstation. We were really looking forward to using Shipstation, but this was a deal-breaker for us. We have reported the issue to them and provided videos and images of the problem. Hopefully they can come up with a fix.
Connection Issues - This software doesn't connect to shipstation well. Even when I'm logged in through big commerce it tells me to go through big commerce to log in. ????
Invalid token issues like everyone else - I don't want to be overly negative and give it 1 star... because when I log into Shipstation directly via my web browser the app seems to magically appear on my BigCommerce dashboard and work okay. But if I do NOT do that, the app does NOT work well at all. It keeps dying and giving invalid token messages that most people below are receiving as well. When you get such messages, it's impossible to use the app on BigCommerce, total fail. The glowing positive reviews are not "legitimate" reviews from my user experience. Too many of us all experience the same thing, if you have the app you know what I mean. In reality we all suffer the same problem and it looks to be an ongoing one that remains unresolved. This unpredictable functionality renders the app very clunky and unreliable, orders do not sync and you don't even know it unless you check the app to see you're in the good old "Invalid Token" situation. So the app clearly has bugs that Shipstation urgently should resolve if it wants a decently useful app on BigCommerce. Until then, it's a semi-functional app at best if we are all being honest and telling the truth.
Invalid Token Issues - We have invalid token issues more than we should. Hard to run a company when your shipping software is down. Ship Station is just another one of those companies who loves selling their product and then hide behind an email address when you need support.
I WAS HACKED FROM THEM - So before I could never log in TURNS OUT someone hacked the account and charged over $2000 to my credit card in labels, they changed my subscription and also created over a hundred manual orders! They have terrible security and now I have to spend the next week with my bank clearing up these charges! SO someone was using my company's name and address and to send out orders as if it was me and use my credit card to pay for it all! BEWARE OF THIS APP
Great Product/POOR SUPPORT - To be honest this is a great product but you are pretty much on your own, if you have any issues or problems do not expect to get any help. They do not have an actual phone number to speak with a live person so everything is done via email or chat. They advertise a 60 day trial if you upgrade from stamps.com but in reality its a false statement, they only give you 30 days and good luck trying to get resolved. I just gave up.
Great promise, but now PROBLEMS/BUGS/NO Customer Service - ShipStation had a lot of promise - great app, easy to use dashboard, good integration, great discount shipping rates for FedEx....BUT once I started using it I've encountered many problems and bugs within their app. I've even tried their new V3 upgrade, and it still had the same bugs and errors as the previous version.Mainly their FedEx by Parcelcast does not work properly and is full of bugs. FedEx is their main/best carrier. I cannot ship 50% of my packages thru their FedEx Parcelcast, because I receive errors trying to print labels. All my packages are compliant and under the FedEx weight/size shipping guidelines. So I have to ship 50% of my packages outside of Shipstation. Also their FedEx by Parcelcast package tracking does NOT WORK. You cannot get updates or notifications of ANY FedEx shipments thru Shipstation. Therefore, their "Branded Tracking Pages" do not work. Then you cannot use other features like tracking when your shipments are "In Transit" or have been "Delivered" or "Completed". Not being able to track/get updates on ALL FedEx Parcelcast shipments trickles down and makes many of their features unusable. Also their FedEx Parcelcast for some reason separates normal postage fees during the payment process. For example, normally Fedex adds up all the fees/costs (weight/size, insurance fees, oversize, etc) and determines a final label cost to charge you. But Shipstation Parcelcast, separates some of these fees and instead of including them in the label cost, they charge it to you as "additional fees". So for every FedEx Parcelcast label you're charged a "Fedex Label cost" and then separate "additional charges". When they're all part of the same label. Then these "additional charges" are NOT included in their shipping cost reports. So you can't keep track of ANY of your FedEx shipping costs or postage costs. All their shipping cost reports are inaccurate. Also when Shipstation charges your credit card or payment option for their labels/postage fees, they do not have invoices, monthly reports, nor ANY method for tracking what they charge you. So the only way to track what charges Shipstation makes to your credit card is by checking your credit card statement. Finally they have BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. BY EMAIL ONLY. No phone, no in-person. I've been contacting ShipStation about all these problems for literally months. I've submitted 4 support tickets. They have never resolved any of my problems. They have never given me updates or information. Only response I've received is "developers have been notified and they're looking into it" and "no time frame for when it will be fixed." I even asked to speak with a manager or supervisor by phone TWO WEEKS AGO, and I haven't received ANY response...not even an email this time. I've been waiting literally almost 3 months for some kind of resolution or information about my problems...but nothing yet.Its too bad, their FedEx shipping provides the best discount rates, its what you will use the most, but is full of bugs and errors. If they would fix their bugs and their customer service, they would be a fantastic app. I've even tried their new V3 upgrade, and it STILL HAS THE SAME BUGS/ERRORS as the previous version.
V3 has major bugs and customer service is unresponsive - The upgrade to V3 is unusable, and we haven't received a response to our support ticket after 11 days.
So nice to use! A real time saver. - We've used this app for several months and it quickly became a favorite because of its list of features and ease of use. It is great to be able to import customer orders/addresses without manually typing anything! Also, being able to compare rates between all the carriers we use is great. Recently, with a website update we ran into a glitch with this App--but the ShipStation customer support via chat/email took care of it!
Wonderful Customer Service!! - I opened their chat to help with some issues I could not figure out on my own. Kevin A was super helpful and patient with me. He fixed all three of my issues and I really appreciate the quick help and wonderful attitude. Thank you so much!! I've been using the Shipstation app for awhile now, and I would definitely recommend them.
No customer service after signing up - Almost no customer service beyond setup and it's very low quality. Also, if you ship overseas and want to use DHL, shipping quotes aren't supported through shipstation and bigcommerce. You need to use ShipperHQ.
Great Customer Service! - So I had a bumpy start setting up the app, mainly adding funding as I mistakenly created a stamps.com account in addition to the one shipstation automatically creates. However, Alexa, shipstation's tech was so patient and helped me figure it all out and corrected it. Now I'm printing postage super fast and have freed up tons of my time to work on all the other things I do! BRAVO!!! Highly recommended.
Works great for automatic & manual orders - Great app for all sizes, they provide a free account for smaller groups like us
Saves us time and money - I am not one to leave reviews unless I am just blown away with a product. ShipStation is one of those products that just blew me away. We ship 250 plus packages each month. We previously used the built in bigcommerce shipping system which wasn't bad, but we needed to speed things up. I downloaded ShipStation and gave it a dry test run and I was pretty impressed. Since we ship more than the 50 free allowed packages per month we upgraded to the first tier on the plan. We bought a Rollo shipping label printer and Onyx 70lb shipping scale from stamps.com. Orders come in to the website and they are then automatically ported over to the ShipStation software. We have it set up based on weight so it tells us what size box to put the order in and it's pretty accurate for picking the right box. There is a few we had to change. From there we print an invoice and pick list for all the orders. We pick the items and box them up. Set the box on the scale which is hooked to our computer, click scale button on the shipstation software and it brings the weights to the computer. Hit quick print and it purchases the postage and prints the shipping label. This software reducing the time we spend shipping products by at least an hour every day. Also I don't know how, but the shipping prices are actually cheaper than the built in Bigcommerce shipping through Endicia. It saves us time and money so I highly recommend it.
App Won't Even Login - I just spent a good amount of time trying to login onto the app to no avail. I already have an account setup at shipstation's main site, but I can't get those credentials to get me into the app. I called their number found in the help menu of their site, but I couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone.
