Merchants have mixed feelings about ActiveCampaign, particularly focusing on its integration capabilities with BigCommerce. While many appreciate its email marketing and CRM functionalities, the platform struggles with seamless e-commerce integration, leading to a divided opinion among users.
ActiveCampaign is a robust platform for email marketing and CRM, offering a range of valuable tools at a competitive price. However, its problematic integration with BigCommerce affects usability for e-commerce businesses, and the company must address these concerns to improve user satisfaction and experience effectively.
Doesn't Import Guest Checkouts - ActiveCampaign doesn't import BigCommerce guest checkouts--either historical or new checkouts. I learned ActiveCampaign even says this on their BigCommerce support page. Sorry I didn't read this in advance. Maybe BigCommerce could periodically review the apps they list to make sure they work--or flag them when a support ticket comes in? If you read over all the comments, even the good reviews acknowledge it's still buggy. Back to a CRM search.
Avoid this App! - Hard to say anything positive about this app. But I'll try. The email capabilities are good. . . . Ok - there's the good thing. The BIGGEST problem is the integration with BigCommerce. Complete disaster. We should have seen over 6500 contacts with orders . . . They find fewer than 150 before August 25th. The ticket has been open for a month. Still not resolved. The worst part is the complete lack of communication from the support team. Dreadful. Updates that are evasive and deflective. Just no idea what is happening or why. Really - look at other apps. This one is a major loser.
Work Well Together - As a small bourbon distillery in central Texas, we have fans. Fans who want to buy things from our online store and gift shop. We use Big Commerce for our online store because it integrates with Shopkeep. We recently added Active Campaign into the mix and we joined the three together. Overall, I would give it a 4 stars. But there are something things I wish they would add. For instance, some selection on what I include and don't include in the import. Additionally, I would like a closer relationship with email subscription than what I can currently figure out. Our number one job is to keep our fans happy. This connection helps.
Good Integration of ActiveCampaign with BigCommerce and an even Better Customer Relations Management System - I would say that I started using Bigcommerce and ActiveCampaign back in 2017. The Integration works pretty well, it is capturing just about all the orders that our customers make on our online store, and transferring the information into Activecampaign. This has allowed us to followup with our customers automatically. It has been amazing for our business. Its not perfect, but it gets the job done probably 92-96% of the time, which is not bad. Thats why I would give it 4.5 stars stars on the basis of the Integration. As far as Activecampaign itself I would give it a full 5 stars. I am able to do so much when it comes to the email marketing automations, as well as the Customer Relations Management features. I am using it for all of my businesses, and it is at an excellent affordable price. Trust me, I've looked, and you won't find a CRM that does as much as ActiveCampaign does, at such an excellent price. Big props. And they are constantly improving. For example, I just started using a new Twilio integration in my automations to send texts to my customers as well. I've been to Activecampaigns "Study Hall" tours and I have met with their support staff when they come to my city. Really cool people. I can go on and on about the great experience I've had with active campaign!Update: I would like to update this review to say that ActiveCampaign Big Commerce integration is continuing to improve and even more of the purchases made in Bigcommerce are integrating into Active Campaign! The companies strives to continue elevating user experience, and I would like to acknowledge that.
WARNING! Do NOT use ActiveCampaign with BigCommerce. - Sept 21 2020. After working with ActiveCampaign for about 2 years, we loved it, but always struggled with our BigCommerce integration. We have finally disconnected and cancelled ActiveCampaign because this integration is SO fantastically broken. In summary . . . ALL ORDERS, no matter the status are imported to ActiveCampaign. AWAITING PAYMENT? Imported as a completed order. PENDING? Imported as a completed order. DECLINED? Imported as a completed payment. FAILED? Imported as a completed order. DO NOT USE ActiveCampaign with BigCommerce. - - - - - - - - - > From ActiveCampaign: "The integration is currently working as it was designed to. Any orders placed will come through to ActiveCampaign as they happen and the orders will be synced as completed even if the payment of the order is accepted, pending, failed, or refunded." < - - - - - - IT WILL BRING IN ALL YOUR ORDERS AS COMPLETED REGARDLESS OF STATUS‼️ ActiveCampaign is great. Connecting it with BigCommerce will ruin your life. If you want BigCommerce connection, use Klaviyo. This is not an Active Campaign review (AC is great). This is a public service announcement about using Active Campaign's supposed connection to BigCommerce. You've been warned.
Improvements will make it a success - I am a proud and active user of BigCommerce and Active Campaign. I think the two platforms have good features and both are looking to grow. The integration was something I was looking forward to, there is for sure margin for improvement. Abandoned cart notice and customer groups can be an example. Overall I think it is just a matter of time with all the options. I also like the automation piece to Active Campaign and the CRM.
Not that feature rich - This gets the job done but its features are very lacking compared to other similar apps like dotdigital. The email editor is just outdated and not intuitive. You can save sections of text and add them in you have to do each individual block and its just not usable. The actual email itself does not have many features that things like mailchimp or campaign monitor has. Please note that several things activecampaign advertises do not work with bigcommerce. things like handling transactional emails and abandoned cart emails. Also most extra fields like customer groups and any custom fields do not connect and you have to use a third party, zapier, to import. The automation part is fine except the layout is a little clunky.List management seems ok.We have several website in the development process and I will be switching away from active campaign to something more featured especially in the email creating and field importing department. There chat feature is also completely useless. You can set out of office hours and you can have different chats for different websites with different operator for each.
Leaves something to be desired - The concept and function of AC is great, and the automations are dynamic and versatile. But I can't help but wonder why designing an email in AC is so terribly clunky and difficult to use? If visuals are a core part of your brand, you might be better off with a diff program. And if you don't have the time to dive deep into understanding automation flows, you also might be better off with a diff program. Eventually I had to hire a consultant to help build automations in AC, and my email still don't look as good as they did in Mailchimp, but the automations are more versatile and powerful. Unfortunately, it's a bunch trade-offs.
Smooth Integration between Active Campaign and Big Commerce - The smooth integration of these two benchmark services has been a game changer for our small business. Contacts and information pass smoothly from Big Commerce into Active Campaign which has become the centerpiece of our CRM. Improvements we hope for include the easy transfer of images from Big Commerce into Active Campaign mailings, something that now requires more work than it should. But this is a relatively minor gripe -- the pairing is generally first rate.
Excellent Program - Highly Recommended - Active Campaign was recommended to us by my marketing director. It works perfectly for all of our needs 98% of the time. We have only run into a few snags here and there when a part of a system stops functioning. The ONLY complaint that I have is we aren't notified if something "breaks" in one of our automations. Everything else works just super. My marketing guy uses all the bells and whistles... while it is easy enough for me to do my weekly emails. Love it! I came from Hubspot (ridiculously expensive and difficult) and would never go back.
Lot's of Features - We moved to ActiveCampaign from Mailchimp as we wanted more functionality and sophistcation with the Bigcommerce platform. One of the biggest benefits has been to move to a paid plan with an account rep who we can talk to about as much as needed and we can email him to look into things as well. This is a big help with the technical side of things and just giving our email system an overview now and then.I'm sure there is more that we can do with ActiveCampaign and Bigcommece so we'll just keep tweaking and refining our system.
It's the Caviar of Email Marketing but without the Ridiculous Pricetag! - I used to use one of those cheap, generic third-party email systems...you know, the ones with the cute animals, or cartoon girl graphics? I found myself messaging and emailing their Support people ALL the time, and the answers I would get to what I thought were basic questions, always seemed to be either: "nope, we don't have that functionality", or, "there is no interface for you to look at that for yourself, you'll have to contact us again when you want to check on that". What??? Ain't nobody got time for that! ActiveCampaign not only allows me LOADS more function and access, they go way over the top with their education and support. I'm by no means a pro at it yet, but I am learning how to automate things for my business that weren't at all possible from those other plain Jane third-party emailers.
Absolutely incredible! - An excellent company and app. I have had nothing but positive interactions with AC! They are incredibly helpful and the software is top notch and has been amazing for our business. They offer campaigns, linking to facebook audiences, automations, deals and so much more. The personal touch they provide is unparalleled. Don't hesitate to try this company. Highly recommended.
Great tool for our most important marketing channel - We send out both manual and automated email campaigns. It is the most successful channel for us. Active campaign makes it easy.
Great Tool - ActiveCampaign has been a great addition to our marketing efforts. With this powerful automation tool, we are able to stay top of mind to potential customers and provide the highest level of customer service to our existing customers.
Powerful tool - A powerful, indispensable tool. Keeping track of all our customers in once place, it's as much CRM tool for us as a marketing tool. The API integration is critical for us, and it's very powerful. Everyone needs ActiveCampaign!
Does Not Work - I am wondering if this app is even being supported any more. I installed and get a big fat white screen that does nothing. No instructions whatsoever.Total garbage. Two big companies, BigCommerce and ActiveCampaign and you guys can't get your stuff to work with each other. That's almost impossible to imagine.
Great for Marketing, No Support for Transactional Emails - It is deep and will take a while to get fully setup. Promises to provide great automations to promote your site. Did not discover until a few weeks into my paid subscription that they in no way support transactional email (order notifications, etc). They do provide abandoned cart emails, but you cannot display the product image or link in the email, so what's the point?
A waste of time ... - Their website looked awesome. I launched the app for BC and half of the features just "hang", you can't even access them. My contacts downloaded, but it would not let you view them or put them in a list. If this worked, it would probably be great. In it's current form, it is useless and a waste of time. FYI .. I tried it in multiple browsers just to make sure it was not a browser issue.
Not good for purpose -
Whilst technically good to build campaigns, its restrictive "opt-in-only" policy means I cannot use it for lead generation nor for gaining new customers. Great if you're a market leader with lots of followers, but useless if you're trying to run a start-up business from scratch.
