What Merchants Think

"BackOrder by GritGlobal" is appreciated by many merchants for its primary functionality of seamlessly managing out-of-stock products, allowing customers to place orders even when inventory is not available. The app is generally smooth to set up and integrate, especially with existing Inventory Management Systems (IMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. It's highlighted for boosting sales and maintaining customer satisfaction. However, some users have experienced stability and reliability issues, particularly in syncing inventory accurately across systems.

Key Strengths

  • Easy setup process, typically within minutes.
  • Effective integration with IMS and ERP systems.
  • User-friendly interface that allows quick assignment of products to backorder.
  • Customizable stock labels and alerts for better customer communication.
  • Visible impact on sales and revenue, especially during high-demand periods.
  • Responsive and helpful customer support.

Common Concerns

  • Stability and reliability issues, leading to incorrect inventory representation.
  • Difficulties in updating inventory and transitioning products from backorder to available status.
  • Errors during initial setup and occasional app instability.
  • Lack of automation for inventory updates via IMS.
  • Challenges with accurate inventory syncing between the app and BigCommerce.

Final Thoughts

"BackOrder by GritGlobal" is a valuable tool for many merchants dealing with stockouts, offering a significant positive impact on sales and customer satisfaction. While it excels in ease of use and integration capabilities, some users have noted issues related to app stability and inventory management that need addressing. Despite these challenges, the app remains a recommended solution for enabling backorder functionality in BigCommerce stores, meeting a critical need for many businesses.

App doesn't work (detailed review-commercial enterprise) - Upon initial install, errors were abound – products didn't appear, report page didn't render, etc. etc. Emailed customer support to see if this is a common or unique issue and if they're committed to resolving the issue and providing assurances for a working product. Prior reviewers documented instability of the app and this review validates that. For a commercial enterprise eComm use case, that doesn't work (maybe acceptable for a hobby site).I will give this app another chance (for no other reason that BigCommerce's app store is limited for solutions to the backorder dilemma and they're not addressing it with native platform functionality...a MAJOR failure with BigCommerce product leadership and strategic direction). If the issues are resolved and there are commitments to performance/SLAs, it could re-open the door for using the app otherwise, this won't be used again.

Not yet ready - ** Please forgive the wall of text as BC removes all of the paragraph formatting **I found the reviews encouraging and decided to give this a try. Before getting into it, allow me to introduce some context. My store has over 1200 products. While not all of them are required for backorder, assigning much of them at at the very least 300-400 SKUs.From the reviews I saw so far, I agree that assigning to backorder is easy. What is not easy is actually updating your inventory, and switching from Backorder to "Available for Sale" once you assign it. Worse are problems with inventory syncing. The app currently lacks:1. Automation to update inventory via IMS2. A way to automatically make the product available for sale after you update inventory. It stays in pre-order status. Now, I'm receiving reports from staff and angry customers who thought the inventory was in stock when they purchased, only to find out that BO improperly reported this and it was out of stock. BO is either dropping sales or simply not recording sales properly. This app really lives by its ability to track inventory. It needs that to flip BO on. But the control you give up for BO isn't worthwhile once you have to update your assigned SKUs with it. This app isn't ready. I hope everyone that has given it glowing reviews already experienced this side of the app. It's the only one of its kind on BigCommerce and I want it to work. I've been reaching out to the team in hopes that they will use my feedback to improve it. As of now, I hesitate to assign any more than I have because of the hours of work needed when I have so many SKUs to update.
