What Merchants Think

The "Ads and Listings on Google" app developed by BigCommerce receives a mix of predominately negative feedback from merchants. While a few users report a smooth experience with the app, especially noting its free cost and ease of setup, a majority express dissatisfaction due to significant functionality issues, particularly related to product syncing and differing performance based on geographical locations.

Key Strengths

  • Free to use and developed by BigCommerce.
  • Some users found it easy to set up and integrate with Google Merchant and Ads account.

Common Concerns

  • Frequent sync issues, resulting in incomplete or incorrect data transfers.
  • Lack of support for special characters like hyphens in store names.
  • Automatic syncing overrides manual inputs, creating issues with product feeds.
  • Significant limitations for non-US stores, particularly those in the UK with VAT issues.
  • Poor support from both BigCommerce and Google in resolving app-related problems.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the "Ads and Listings on Google" app struggles with functionality issues that limit its effectiveness for many merchants, especially those operating outside the US. The app's inability to integrate seamlessly or address critical flaws often results in significant constraints for its users, overshadowing its potential benefits as a free tool. Merchants might consider alternative solutions for a more reliable experience.

Started off ok but not so good now - It started off ok and synced across 716 products. Now has just stopped. I have over 4K products. The app says there are 1500 but merchant centre only shows the716. Doesn't make if I run sync in merchant centre or in Bigcommerce. Nothing happens. Support useless as usual.

No control - Unfortunately the downside of this app is that it's not reliable and worse still, appears to have automatically gone from a manual synch option to a daily one. This has caused a lot of issues because when we make changes, we need to wait hours to resynch the feed. So okay - but not the best option out there for us.
