Slow customer service - Getting set up was really easy. We have been using them for a few years. When we finally had some fraud, they kept approving the same type orders. We had to stop shipping, do return tags and reported details to them vs the other way around. They didn't care that I had details of what was happening. When I started filling chargeback claims - you can not see that you did so on the platform. They say that they refund you in 30 days. Been waiting almost 60 and no information. They take days to reply to email request and who knows where the employees really are, nobody to talk to. All the money I've paid them over the years, not sure if it was worth it.

Good with a few caveats - The Good:Been using this service for several years. The staff at this company are well trained and are very professional in their dealing thus far. The service is easy to integrate and the sales process to sign up was a stress-free experience. Customer service is very responsive.The fees to insure a transaction are reasonable.Speed of service: For sketchy transactions requiring manual review it takes far too long to get a decision, with a service standard of up to 24 hours. For every other transaction the decision is usually received within 15 minutes.The Bad - Very Costly to screen every sketchy transaction: Stripe and Paypal have started charging non-refundable fees on captured payments while not charging a transaction fee on payment intents and holds. This means you are stuck with the transaction fees after refunding sketchy transactions. ClearSale will only make a decision on captured payments, not payment intents and holds; thus exposing merchants to excessive merchant transaction fees on captured payments in order to get a fraud/not fraud decision and insurance against loss due to fraud. There are providers like Square who refund transaction fees when the transaction is refunded but we prefer to use Stripe or other providers who support card vaulting. The result of all this is that we cannot afford to send every sketchy looking transaction to ClearSale. This is a critical fault for ClearSale that has costed us alot of money and sadly we must be moving on if they cannot make a decision on a payment intent and hold.

Seamless and Easy Integration, Works Well - The ClearSale app was easy to integrate with our BigCommerce store, and their fraud detection has saved us from a few scams. It's nice not to worry about personally vetting every order that comes in, and the customer service has been very helpful whenever we've had questions.

ClearSale Fraud Detection App - Due to the nature of our products, by far the biggest challenge facing our e-commerce store is credit card fraud: individuals using lost or stolen credit card information to make large value purchases through our store. Our third party payment gateway has consistently, and rightly so, erred on the side of caution, with the unfortunate result that some legitimate customers (and sales dollars) have been blocked and/or declined by our third party payment gateway. To address this problem, our e-commerce store sought to hire a third party team of fraud specialist that can vet through every single transaction that comes through our store. After researching and assessing the number of different anti-fraud companies and Apps available to BigCommerce store owners, we discovered a company called ClearSale. We were able to get in touch with a representative within only a few hours of installing the App, even though we had done so after business hours, in the later hours of the evening. The ClearSale representative was extremely knowledgeable not only about online credit card fraud, but also about credit card fraud as it related to our particular niche. In addition to being very friendly, he was extremely detailed, comprehensive, and offered easy-to-understand, in-depth knowledge about online credit card fraud, and how it related to our industry and store. Since that time, we have been in constant and regular communication to address this critical issue we are experiencing with our store. I must say in all honesty, in all of the years of my existence, I have never come across such excellent customer service. The ClearSale team is truly a team of friendly and knowledgeable team of anti-fraud experts. Their team has already began manually sorting through our e-commerce stores transaction, trying hard to thin-slice between signs and indications of possible fraudulent transaction. ClearSale is truly a hidden gem. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone looking to combat online credit-card fraud.
